Wave protection: A long open beach with no shelter: in the dry season the sea is usually calm, but in the monsoon the waves are big and rip currents form along the whole length — swim only between the flags.
Tide impact: Moderate impact: at low tide the strip of sand widens, but it gets deep fairly quickly, and there is usually still a window for swimming.
Getting in and seabed: The famous "singing" fine sand squeaks underfoot; the slope is moderate, but there is a drop in depth close to the water — in waves there can be a noticeable shore break near the beach.
Who it suits: A spacious beach for those who want room and fewer crowds than Patong; when there is a shore break, keep an eye on children at the water's edge. There is always a spot by the water.
