Wave protection: The beach faces the Andaman Sea with nothing to shelter it: in high season the sea is usually calm, but in the rainy season (May–October) serious waves and strong currents roll in — swim only in calm weather.
Tide impact: The entry is steep and it gets deep almost at once, so low tide only moderately affects swimming. The flip side of a steep entry is a heavy shore break and currents right at the water's edge, especially in the monsoon.

Who it suits: For those after space, quiet and long walks along the water's edge. Because of the currents and the few lifeguards, in the rainy season it is not the best choice for swimming with small children.
